4 {Official Seal} In the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen, there is granted by the United States, unto Jean Bapt. Richardville, the two tracts of land described as follows:- (with other real estate) And a tract containing one thousand nine hundred and twenty acres, on the West side of the River St. Mary's, bounded and described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at a post on the West bank of the River St. Mary's, from which a B. Oak twenty inches in diameter bears North fifty two degrees thirty minutes West distant forty five and a half links, and a W. Oak sixteen inches in diameter bears South seven degrees West distance one hundred and thirty six links; thence South twenty five degrees West eighty chains to a stone; thence South thirty four degrees East three hundred and forty chains to a post, from which a Hickory twenty inches in diameter bears North six degrees East distance sixteen links, and a W. Elm twelve inches in diameter bears North seventy five degrees West distance eighteen links; thence North twenty five degrees East sixty four chains to a post on the Bank of the River St. Mary's, from which a B. Oak sixteen inches in diameter bears North distance thirteen links, and a W. Oak twelve inches in diameter bears South twenty two degrees West distance twenty four links; thence down the River St. Mary's with the meanders thereof, to the place of beginning. To Have and To Hold the said tracts of land above described, with the appurtenances, unto the said Jean Bapt. Richardville, and his heirs and assigns forever. In Testimony Whereof, I James Monroe, President of the United States of America, have caused these letters to be made Patent, and the Seal of the General Land Office to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand, at the City of Washington, this fourth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the forty eighth.
