AREA-WIDE DFVELOA"HIT . j This year was a very important year in the Coordinating Council's comprehensive planning efforts. For the past few years much work and re-search has ·gone into assemblying data necessary for a development plan I the four-county area. This year the data collection was completed and actual putting together of the draft of the Areawide Development Program was started • . , The staff developed a set of alternative goals and policies which were presented to the Citizens Participation Committee. The C.P.C. spent several months discussing the various alternative goals and policies before finally adopting goals and policies D which would be recommended to the Coordinating Council. The alternative goals and policies covering coopera-tive land use planning, residential land use, commercial land ase, industrial land use, community facilities I and agricultural land use were also reviewed by various planners within the four-county area. After much dis-cussion and many revisions a set of goals and policies were presented to the Coordinating Council £or their in-put and endorsement. These goals and policies form the foundation of the Areawide Development Program which will serve as a guideline to the Council and local communities for future development. The A.D.P. will also provide a mech-anism whereby local communities can work together to solve common problems. During the upcoming year, the A.D.P. will be presented to the various local governments for their input and endorsement. At the end of this coming year it is hoped that the Coordinating Council will have an adopted -6- .. ,
