---- .. ..... ... III -... ... - ... till ..... ...... -- DEMAND ANALYSIS AND PROJECTION In July 1968 the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) completed a comprehensive study entitled Analysis of the Fort Wayne, Indiana Housing Market. The study includes the Fort Wayne Housing Market Area which is defined as al I of Allen County. The analysis was developed as thoroughly as possible on the basis of infonmation available from both local and national sources. The study provides an excel lent basis for measuring performance against projections, drawing conclusions and mapping future projections. It also points out that since market analysis is not an exact science, the judgmental factor is important in the development of findings and conclusions. Employment Tables showing trends between 1950 and 1970 (*and in some cases 1960 to 1970) for non-agricultural employment, work force and unemployment, population changes, and number of households are included in the Appendix. The FHA projections of employment for the years 1969 and 1970 vary from actual results because of the erratic nature of the netlons economy during the two year period • 26
