The City of fort Wayne I am pleased to present the 1985 Annual Report of the Division of Community Development and Planning. CD&P is made up of five departments that are responsible for zoning and code enforcement, housing rehabilitation, public housing, comprehensive planning, and the administration of the Community Development Block Grant Program. This fact is reflected in the statement of CD&P's primary goal: "To maintain and improve housing and the quality of life for people and neighborhoods". In keeping with CD&P's major objective, the Division had many significant accomplishments in the year of 1985, ranging from the development of the 1985-1987 Community Development and Housing Plan to the establishment of the Safe Housing and Building Standards City ordinance. In 1985, the staff of CD&P was instrumental in meeting and challenging the needs of the citizens in the City of Fort Wayne. A great deal of staff time and talent was spent lending a helpful hand to many concerned individuals and organizations. In addition, there were hundreds of City neighborhood volunteers who helped to ensure the success of our programs. Through the efforts of the Director's Office staff, the Housing and Neighborhood Development Services staff, the Planning staff, the Public Housing staff, and the Safe Housing and Building Standards staff, the Division has made a great deal of progress towards the advancement of its primary goal. A detailed accounting of service and production levels is provided in the text of this Annual Report. Sincerely, Norman A.
