270 JACOB AND RACHEL I sa::-. __ Equipment: A cut-off or shortened large paper bay #6 which can be slipped over t he head 01: the child as a blindfold. This game is played in circle formation. Two players are r.1a.ced in the center; one of them is "Jacobtl , the other is 'Rachel". Jacob is blindfolded 0 The object of the game 1s for Jacob to catch Rachel, by the sound of her voice; but to avoid being caught by Jacob, even though she must answer his questions. Jacob begins the game by asking "Rachel. where art thou?" Rachel must reply, "Here am I, Jacob", and immediately tiptoes to some other place in the circle, trying to evade Jacob's outstretched ha...'1ds as he r;ropes for her. Rachel may stoop to evade being caught. or may dash tram one side of the ring to the other~ or resort to any tactics except leaving the circle. Jacob may repeal'tt his question whenever he wishes and Rachel must answer each time. Rachel may disguise her volceo It Jecob touches Rachel she Is considered caught and then Jacob guesses who she Iso The game continues with the new Jacob and Rachel chosen by the couple just having played those parts. -P:=DDLER. Equipment: Five or six objects One child is given five or six objects, which he sells or distributes to the others as he walks among thamo As soon as a buyer gets a~ object t he hides it about his persono When all aresold, the seller must collect them, asking each tor the thing he sold to himo If he remembers correctly, the buyer gives him the object~ but i£ not~ he must try until he is successful, although he may collect from the others before doing BOo The leader records the number of mistakes he makeso ~ben all are collectedl' another player may tryo Perhaps it would be well to use but three objects in the younger age group and increase the number fOl~ the oldeI: childreno STORE This game 1s played in circle tormatlono One child is chosen to leave the group. while the remaining children decide what kind of store they would like to represento After they have made a cholce~ each child takes the name ot some article in that st~reo The child who has lert the roam 1s called in and attempts to guesswhat kind of a store the group choseo He takes a position in the center of the circle and says, "Say itl onee two, threel" The children in unison say the n81US of the article they represento If not he may say~ "V/plsper it! one, two. threel" At that the children in unison whisper the art1cle~ He may then try to guess it., If not, he may say, rtShoul it! one~ two, threet" Be may ask for a repetition of say variety of choruses until he guesses the right st~reo The game continues with a different child to leave the room as the new guessero
