It gave others and myself a chance to express opinions on matters we felt were detrimental to the City7s growth. I, and many others like lne are committed to thls Chy we call our home. We want to See it prosper, be a place for opportunity for all, and a place where we can raise the future generation of Americans. 1 am proud of being a citizen of this community . I have been in the practice of engineering and land developing for the last 34 years in the City of Fort Wayne. I have seen changes, which in my opinion do not foster a better climate for the business cOllllllunity, mainly the land development sector. I recognize the need for regulating some aspects of the planning process in project developments, however, sometimes the best of intentions go beyond the reqllirement and the need. Let me give some examples from my own experience. Subject to landscaping: I recognize the need to buffer residential developments from retail-commercial developments, but how much buffering and screening do we need betweell multi-family resid.ential and single family residential? Are we suggesting that those who live in apartments are more likely to do harm to another's property, therefore, we should protect the single family dweller, if not, then some sort of planting to draw the boundaries should be adequate. Trees, shrubs, or some other sort of plants will work for this purpose. Approyed; Subject to Buffering and Screening against 1-69: Whom are we buffering from whom? Shouldn't the developer worry about ho",· much buffering should be done to have a profitable Pfoject? Profit is not considered to be a bad word . Approval; Subject to planting shrubs along the street Right of Way aloDg the parking lot: Should that be a condition for approval when the parking lot is a car 141 002/006 tal 002
