R-OO-07 -09 -~-....:..-~-- Resolution R------- A Resolution of the Common Council of the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, in support of red tape reduction initiatives and specifically in support of modifications to the Parking Area Landscape Requirements of the current Code of Ordinances Whereas, the Common Council desires that the City of Fort Wayne be perceived as and become a business friendly community that encourages: (1) the growth and expansion of our existing businesses; (2) the start-up of new ventures; and (3) the location of outside companies to our city; and Whereas, the Common Council recognizes that excessive local regulation and procedural red tape can have a chilling effect on business growth and development and therefore the Common Council is committed to taking all reasonable steps to reduce excessive regulation and red tape; and Whereas, Common Council members John N. Crawford, Glynn A. Hines and Samuel 1. Talarico, Jr. in an effort to start addressing the problem of over-regulation and red tape have conducted: (1) multiple forums with local business owners; (2) multiple meetings with city employees; (3) a televised town hall meeting for the general public on Apri112, 2000; and (4) in cooperation with the Graham A. Richard Administration, a customer service survey of more than one hundred local businesses; and Whereas, Common Council members Crawford, Hines and Talarico are currently working with several of our dedicated and hardworking city employees to make significant improvements to our processes in an effort to greatly enhance customer service; and Whereas, the Common Council recognizes that it should eliminate laws and procedures when it becomes apparent that the laws and procedures are unnecessarily burdensome on our local businesses and are negatively impacting our local economic development climate; and Whereas, Common Council members Crawford, Hines and Talarico as well as the Richard Administration have received numerous complaints from local businesses regarding excessive regulation and procedural red tape and many specific complaints from credible sources including the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce regarding the application and
