contained a pocket in which pamphlets titled AFFIRMATIVE ACTION: WHAT IT CAN DO FOR YOU were placed. Checks of these posters revealed the pamphlets were being removed; therefore, it was determined the interest was there. Consequently, the pamphlets were replaced and the decision made to retain this type of poster. Also posted on all Official Bulletin Boards were copies of the Governor's Executive Order 6-82 prohibiting sexual harassment in state government with the proper procedures for filing sexual harassment complaints. Our Affirmative Action Committee manned a table on Employee Recognition Day which was held in November, 1987. We offered counseling on promotional opportunities to all interested employees. Calendar note pads stating Compliments of the Affirmative Action Committee and the expediter's extension number were distributed. In addition, employees were asked to complete an entry form naming the expediter and committee members. All correct entries were placed in a box and a drawing was held and filmed on closed circuit television. Two winners were announced and received prizes donated by a local merchant. In the September, 1987, issue of the employee newsletter, an article titled DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS was published which referred employees to the Affirmative Action Expediter if they felt their rights had been violated or if they had questions about career opportunities. In the "Special Edition" for Fall of the same year, an article titled AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND YOU was published. The February, 1988, issue devoted a large portion of the newsletter to an article titled TRIBUTE TO BLACK HISTORY; the March issue devoted a similar portion to an article titled PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ARE PEOPLE FIRST. WORKING WITH PEOPLE was the title of another article associated with Affirmative Action published in the April issue, while the May issue contained an article - 78 -
