In the event of an unanticipated excavation after normal ,vorking hours, contact should be made ,vith the Police Department and a written application filed ,vith the Right-of-Way Dept. at the earliest scheduled ,york day following the unanticipated excavation. The application must include contact name and mailing address, location to be excavated, the reason for the excavation, and the expected timing of the excavation. In most cases, permit fees are levied based on the extent of the excavation. City Action: The completed application is reviewed by the Right-of-Way Department. After excavation is completed, the Right-of-Way Officers check the site for proper backfilling and temporary repair. Generally, between November 1, and April 1, weather constraints prohibit pem1anent pavement repairs so the site is again checked after the permit applicant advises that permanent restoration has been completed. Right-of-Way Officers will respond to complaints of undue trench settlement or unsatisfactory restoration repairs.
