It is noted that some of the savings indicated here will actually become expenses of the Hater Polluti.on Control Plant as these items are done "in..;., house" • E. Termi.nal Ponds The attached sketch, Figure IV, has been taken from The Master Plan for Sewers - Part I Relief Sewers, dated May 1969. Study of this drawing will show three ponds proposed. Pond No. 1 has been built and the remaining two have been proposed as part of the current improvement program~ Pond No.2 will have to be modified to leave room for lime treatment and recalcining if these facilities are built. Assuming that they are built, and ta.1<ing into consideration the additional area taken up by Bald,.,in Ditch, the net volume of Pond No • 2 ,.,ould be 65.3 million gallons at a 5-foot depth of water. This would provide approximately two days deten-tion at present flows and one-day at design flow of 60 MGD. If there is no change to Pond No.2, the full capacity of 87 million gallons will be available to provide 1.5 days detention at 60 MGD. In the Engineer's opinion, it may be possible to obtain satisfactory ter-tiary treatment with one pond in service for some period of time. How-ever, ultimately it is believed that the second pond will have to be built
