SYSTEM NO. 4 Spy RUN CREEK AND 'TRIBUTARIES General Comments The watershed drained by Stream System No. 4 consists ·of 15.27 square miles in the west-central portion of Allen County. Located at the northwest edge of Ft. Wayne, this watershed is about 5 miles long (north to south) and ranges up to 4 miles wide (east to west). Spy Run Creek is the main stream of System No. 4 and outlets into the St. Marys River. Lowther-Newhaus Ditch collects water from the western part of the watershed and empties into Spy Run Creek near Franke Park. Land use is varied over the watershed. Downstream of California Road the land use is almost entirely devoted to residential, commercial, and industrial uses with the exception of the Franke Park area. The area between California Road and 1-69 is largely indus-trial and commercial. North of 1-69 much of the land remains as farmland, however, part of this area is becoming residential in the form of mobile home parks and string type home develop-ments. Curve number 82 was used throughout the watershed for the flood routings. Nearly 12 miles of System No. 4 streams were studied in preparation of this document.
