Jennifer is an IPFW graduate with a Bachelor of Education degree in elementary education. She is also a current student pursuing an Art Education degree. Jennifer displayed her school spirit in 2005 when she painted not one, but three mastodons for the public art exhibition Mastodons on Parade, with the help of her best friend, Erin Palmer - also an IPFW graduate. Jennifer has lived her entire life in Fort Wayne and hopes to continue that, but also visit new places throughout the world. Aside from art, Jennifer's main passion is horses. She has been riding and competing since age two and continues to share that love and knowledge with others as a 4-H leader and horseback instructor at her family's stable.
Inspiration
I created this piece as a classroom art assignment. I placed the ear of the Indian corn on a wrinkled sheet of satin. I enjoyed observing the intricate detail of each dried husk blade and each unique kernel. The subject reminds me of my family heritage of the endless labors of farming that my mother's family endured each year, whether it be planting in the spring, tending in the summer, or harvesting their crops in the fall. As I am constantly reminded, "a farmer's work is never done." I take that advice with me in my college and artistic endeavors. -- J. Clements
