PROSPECTIVE STUDENT CENTER
The Prospective Student Center (PSC), a Student Development Services Unit, officially opened its doors June 5, 1978. The Center, located at SUB 111, provides counseling, referrals, and support for undecided students who are anticipating attendance at IPFW. The staff works with the student until she/he has the necessary information and confidence to make a decision about his/her educational future. Any student seeking this kind of support is eligible to use the service; returning adults are especially welcomed. For further information contact Kay Dugan, Director (482-5393), or John Blair, Counselor (482-5646). -- Office of Student Development
KEYPUNCHING INSTRUCTION
The noon-hour keypunch instruction sessions conducted by this office during the first two weeks of the semester attracted over 300 students -- as many as could be accomodated. Since the response was very favorable, we plan to offer keypunching instruction at the beginning of each semester. Look for notices of forthcoming sessions. Comments and suggestions regarding these sessions or others that faculty would like to see provided are welcomed. Call Gordon Wakefield at extension 5766. -- Office of Computing and Data Processing Services
LIST OF CAMPUS COMMITTEES
Attached to this COMMENTARY is what we believe to be an up-to-date list of the committees on this campus. Please communicate any corrections or additions which you feel should be made to Mrs. Florence Payne (5358) in the Chancellor's Office. -- Office of the Acting Chancellor
COMMITTEE ON POLICY AND PLANNING
The coming decade will provide a multitude of problems created by a projected decline in enrollment. Last year a Council for Planning Analysis was created and is presently functioning. To act upon the data the council generates, I am establishing a Committee on Policy and Planning consisting of:
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs
Dean of Student Services
Dean of Arts and Letters
Dean of Engineering, Technology, and Nursing
Dean of Science and Humanities
Coordinator for Professional Studies
Coordinator for Community Outreach
Director of Institutional Research and Planning
Affirmative Action Officer
Librarian
Three faculty from each of the following: Arts and Letters; Engineering, Technology, and Nursing; Science and Humanities; and Professional Studies (to be selected by procedures established within each unit).
The function of the committee will be to advise the Chancellor on long-range and short-range plans and policy decisions. -- Office of the Acting Chancellor
USE OF IPFW FREE PERIOD TIME
You will recall that last year, through the efforts of the Student Senate and the Indiana and Purdue Faculty Senates, a free period for IPFW was approved. The second and fourth Mondays of each month are reserved from noon to 1:30 p.m. for administration, faculty, and student meetings. The first and third Mondays are set aside for student organizations, programs and convocations during the free period. We are interested in having your input regarding programming. Many of you have slide presentations or project demonstrations that would make interesting programs, or you may know of a colleague at another institution whom you would like to recommend for a program. If you wish to submit a proposal, please contact the SUBOG/Students' Government Free Period Committee, Room 118 Walb Student Union. Thank you for your cooperation. -- OFFICE OF THE STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT

MEDICAL HEALTH SCREENING EXAMINATIONS
Again this year, we are pleased to offer to employees of Indiana-Purdue and their spouses, the Medical Health Screening Examination. This service is provided through Physical Measurements, Inc., a subsidiary of Equifax, Inc. Over the past three years P.M.I. has established facilities around the country to provide periodic health screening programs for business, industry, and public service institutions. This health screening package includes the following: medical history, physical data, spirometry, auditory screening, visual screening, electrocardiogram, urinalysis, blood chemistry screen and hematology survey. The cost for each screening package is $42.00. Test results on each participant shall be coordinated with the laboratory analysis, then packaged and sent to the interpreting physician for review. The physician shall review the test results and then inform each participant, through a written letter, of the results of his/her health screening. If authorized by the participant, the interpreting physician shall send the test results to the participant's personal physician. To participate, please request an enrollment card from the Personnel Office, make check payable to Indiana-Purdue, and send to Pat Hudson, G-58, Kettler Hall. Physical Measurements will contact you personally to set up an appointment. -- Office of the Vice Chancellor for Financial Affairs
GENERAL FACULTY AND STAFF MEETING
At the General Faculty and Staff meeting held on Monday, November 13, several individuals requested to see copies of the visuals shown at the meeting. In response to those requests, I am attaching copies of the charts and data sheets which were shown as visuals for your information. -- Office of the Acting Chancellor
