Registration material may be picked up in Room 113, Student Union, be completed and returned along with ten resumes to be put on file in the Placement Office.
PERSONAL CAREER PLANNING
October 4 - November 15, 1977
7:30 - 9:30 pm. Tuesday
Are you misemployed, unemployed, underemployed, or just interested in career direction? If so, this course is designed to assist you with possible alternatives. Utilizing a career planning workbook, career decision-making is approached in a systematic fashion. The workbook activities and group discussions will assist the participants to more accurately perceive their interest, values and skills in relation to (1) meaningful educational options, and (2) compatible occupational choices in various work environments.
Participants in the course will complete two vocational interest inventories. These devices will be administered and interpreted by Dr. Charles Bolyard, Director of Testing. An additionally important part of the course is designed to provide the participants with a structure for relating past experiences to possible occupational alternatives.
The course will conclude with a session that deals with learning how to locate, identify and secure a job. Dr. Robert Barkhaus, Placement Director, will present information concerning local and national employment trends and salary information.
Individual appointments will be scheduled to help participants with specific concerns.
Students will be required to purchase a workbook in the bookstore.

THREADS - A Tapestry of Self and Career Exploration a new career text workbook authored by Dr. Robert S. Barkhaus and Dr. Charles W. Bolyard has just been put on the market by Kendall-Hunt Publishing Company.
THREADS was developed and researched through the Career Planning Courses offered at Indiana University - Purdue University, Fort Wayne. The course and the workbook provide a systematic learner center-approach to career decision making.
There are currently 85 students enrolled in the Fall semester's Career Planning Courses, instructed by Dr. Robert Barkhaus, Dr. Charles Bolyard, Dr. Robert Hassell, Dr. Phillip Kennell, and Ms. Donna Worthley.
