WELCOME Four new faculty, (James Taylor, Lecturer in Education; William Teoh, Assistant Professor of Computer Technology; Judy VanGheluwe, Visiting Instructor of Dental Auxiliary Education; and Frank Cosispoti, Lecturer in Political Science) have been added to the IPFW campus this spring. We welcome each of them to campus.
SHOPPING TRIP The Dental Auxiliary Education Department is sponsoring a bus trip to downtown Chicago on Saturday, February 17. The bus will leave the IPFW campus at 6:30 am and return Saturday evening around 9 p.m. Herb Reininger reports that there ten seats which have not yet been reserved. The fee for the trip is $13.00. Contact Mr. Reininger at 5560 or 5292 to make your reservations. The deadline for reservations is Wednesday, February 14.

HAYDN FEST The University Singers and the University Orchestra will present the second in a series of concerts saluting the works of Haydn. The concert will be held on Thursday, February 15, at 8 p.m. in the Embassy Theatre. Tickets are available through the Embassy box office.
CLERICAL AND SERVICE STAFF RECOGNITION LUNCHEON The 4th Annual Clerical/Service Staff Recognition Luncheon will be held at noon in the Ballroom of the Walb Memorial Union on March 1. Reservations should be made on or before February 23 by mailing a check for $3.95 to the Bursar's Office.
TV STUDIO UTILIZATION The Learning Resource Center and Tim Singleton report that the TV studio was used 500 hours during the fall semester. That averages out to six and one-half hours per class day.
NOT THE PRESIDENT, BUT … U. S. Senator Richard Lugar will be on campus Wednesday, February 14, to talk with students. His visit is being coordinated by Jim Owen of the Department of Public and Environmental Affairs. Lugar will meet with students in the formal lounge area of the Walb Memorial Union building from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
NOT THE GOVERNOR, BUT ... The Department of Business and Economics reports that the Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, Robert D. Orr, will attend that department's Business Conference on March 29.

WELCOME AGAIN The campus wishes to extend a warm welcome to Gary Temple, Kim Bereman, and Sherry Wininger. Gary has joined the Physical Plant operation as a maintenance person, Kim replaces Christine Mankin as secretary to Dr. Kipp Hassell, and Sherry replaces Louise Conine as secretary to Dr. Roy Shin.

WOMEN'S STUDIES Women's Studies presents a lecture and discussion "Pornography: Safety Valve or Role Model for Men?" on Monday, February 12 at noon in room 116 in the Student Union Building. Jane Mildred, rape information and education specialist from the Fort Wayne Mental Health Center will speak about the connection between pornography and violence against women.
TIME SAVING IDEAS Keep on top of paperwork by: handling each piece of paperwork only once, using the "Keep the ball in the other man's court" technique or approach as a way of keeping the paper moving meaningfully.
INDIANA-PURDUE REPORTS! On Sunday, February 18, John Hobson of the IPFW Alumni Office will be the guest on "Indiana-Purdue Reports!" The program will be a discussion featuring former students, can be seen on WANE TV and on Citizens Cable, and it can be heard on WGL Radio.

WIPU ADVISORY BOARD The Chancellor would like to establish a Faculty Advisory Committee for the campus radio station, WIPU. He would like interested faculty members to submit their names to Florence Payne in the Chancellor's office (5358) for his consideration.
HOUSE BILL 1562, INDIANA STATE LEGISLATURE There is still time to call (toll free number 1-800-382-9841) and ask the Committee on Aging to change House Bill 1562 to permit Purdue faculty to work until 70 years of age, the same as the mandatory retirement age of Indiana University faculty. As the bill stands now, Purdue faculty are forced to retire at 65. Rep. John Thomas is Chairman of the Committee on Aging.
RAIL TRANSIT FACTS The Alliance to Save Energy passes along the following facts on transportation from the American Public Transit Association. - Between 1950 and 1977, 26 totally new rapid transit systems were opened, but only three of them were on American soil. - One rapid transit car produces up to 640 passenger miles on the electrical equivalent of one gallon of diesel fuel. - A rapid transit car with an average rush hour load is 18 times more efficient than an automobile. - Construction costs for suburban highway amount to 88¢ per person per mile as compared to rail construction costs of 20¢ per mile, according to a recent report by the Institute of Urban and Regional Research at the University of Iowa. Per capita consumption of energy for transportation in rapid rail-oriented New York City is 47 percent of the national average for per capita energy consumption.
