THE DAY SCHOOL
The regular day school course consists of a program
extending over a period of two ye,ars. The first year
is devoted to general training in the principles of art.
The second year is spent in specialization in any one
of the course'S listed. A diploma is given at the com-pletion

A program for five half days a week is arranged for
those who find it impossible to attend the full time

There is a two half day program planned for those
who are engaged in business or other activities who
wish to continue with their art work in drawing,
painting, design or craft. • • • • • • •

FREEHAND DRAWING-Perspective, Still Life,
Nature, Animal and Life. Mediums used: brush and
ink, pencil, pen and ink, pastel, water color and oil.
MECHANICAL DRAWING-Elementary and Ad-vanced.

LETTERING AND ILLUMINATING-As related to
design. Typical Alphabets, using type pens and
brushes. Old Manuscripts. Practical problems related

CRAFTS-Gesso, Colored Cement, Resist Dyeing
including Batik, Tieing and Dyeing, Stenciling
and Paste Resist, Block Printing, Stitchery, Bookbinding

LECTURES
THE EVENING SCHOOL
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 7 :15 to 9 :15. The
courses given in the evening are arranged to meet
the needs of those who are unable to attend school
at other hours, or to afford opportunity to those who
wish to continue their daytime studies. Workers of
wide experience and marked ability are often found
in the classes, working side by side with those of

NORMAL ART-Methods of teaching Art in the
Public Schools. Promotional credit will be received

COMMERCIAL ART-Art in Printing, Lettering,
Posters, Window Trimming and Store Displays.

CARTOONING-Drawing for Magazine and Newspaper

CRAFTS-Dyeing, Batik, Block Printing, Stenciling,
Gesso, and Clay Jewelry. • • • • • •
SKETCH CLASS-A class in sketching from the
model is offered on Tuesday evenings only. • •

INFORMATION
Enrollment may be made at any time prior to ·the
opening of school by the payment of the registration
fee. This fee will apply on the tuition. · All
fees are payable in advance. • • • • •
Membership in classes is limited. No examination
or previous instruction is required. Students are
given every opportunity to advance as rapidly as
is consistent with thorough training. • • • • •
Several scholarships are offered by friends of the
school to talented art students. For information ap-ply

The library of the school containing many valuable
books, magazines and reference material is open for
the use of the students. • • • • • • • • •
The school authorities reserve the right to omit any
course or branch of study and to make changes in
the schedule and class work. • • • • •
Students are not received in any class for a period
of time less than a term. No reduction will be made
for absences, except in case of serious illness. • • •
There are no extra charges for lectures. • • • •
Materials must be provided by the student. For
their convenience, supplies will be on sale in the
school art store at regular prices. • • • • •
A diploma will be issued at the end of the second
year to all those who have satisfactorily completed
any one of the prescribed two-year courses.

The school reserves the right each year to withhold
two specimens of work of each student, and to retain
all students' work until after the school exhibition.

HOLIDAYS
Two days at Thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas,
