NEW CIRCULATION SYSTEM
In order to provide faster service at the Circulation Desk, the Library is installing 2 Bro-Dart charging machines, one for general circulation and one for reserve books. This system will be more economical and much more convenient than the present handwriting method of charging out books. The new system is operated by inserting into the machine a borrower's embossed I.D. card and the book card simultaneously . This transaction can be completed in less than one second. Embossed cards are now being prepared for all full time faculty, part time faculty whose names appear on the schedule of classes and all administrative staff. Other staff members may obtain a card by applying at the Circulation Desk. In order for the system to be operational in time for the beginning of the Fall semester classes, it is necessary that ALL LIBRARY BOOKS NOW IN YOUR POSSESSION BE RETURNED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Any books that you have need of currently can be charged out to you again within a day or two. Books can be returned to the Library or deposited in the book return box located on the sidewalk adjacent to the TROMS and Neff Hall. -4-
NEW ENGINEERING COURSES
With the start of the fall semester, Purdue University-Fort Wayne will offer six courses which may be applied to a Master's degree in Engineering. Dr. Jay Abramowitz, chairman of the engineering section, pointed out that during the past year, Purdue Fort Wayne has conducted a survey in various areas of industry to determine the educational requirements of the engineering fraternity in this community. Results of the survey showed the need for a larger series of programs which would permit work toward the master's degree. Purdue's expanded program will include Advanced Structural Mechanics; Lumped System Theory; Linear Active Network Theory; Introduction to Automatic Control Systems; Engineering Acoustics, and Nuclear Engineering Principles.
